KUANTAN, April 20 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have expressed their sorrow and sympathy to the victims of the devastating fire in Kampung Bahagia, Batu Sapi, Sandakan.
Their Majesties conveyed their condolences and hoped that all those affected would be granted strength, patience and ease in facing the difficult ordeal.
“Their Majesties are deeply saddened by the tragedy, which caused extensive destruction with about 1,000 houses reported destroyed, affecting a total of 9,007 residents,” according to a post on the Sultanate of Pahang’s official Facebook page today.
Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also expressed appreciation to all parties involved in rescue and emergency relief efforts, while hoping that recovery initiatives would be carried out swiftly to safeguard the welfare of the victims.
Their Majesties prayed that all those affected would remain under the protection of Allah SWT and that conditions would return to normal as soon as possible.
Yesterday, it was reported that about 1,000 homes were destroyed in the fire at the Kampung Bahagia floating village, leaving more than 9,000 residents displaced.
