MPC, MPI Launch ADI Media Awards 2026
PETALING JAYA, April 15 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) today launched the Akademi Dalam Industri (ADI) Media Awards 2026 as a strategic initiative to recognise the media’s role in supporting the national productivity agenda and human capital development.
MPC Deputy Director-General Dr Mohamad Norjayadi Tamam said the award, organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI), aims to appreciate media practitioners’ contributions in raising public awareness on ADI, with emphasis on productivity, innovation and talent development issues.
“The award not only recognises and celebrates excellence in producing high-impact content, but also encourages clear, accurate and data-driven reporting,” he said in his speech at the ADI Media Awards 2026 launch ceremony here.
He added that MPI’s appointment as secretariat aligns with the institute’s expertise in journalism professional development, media award management and its extensive network with media organisations nationwide.
“MPI’s role is not only limited to coordination and competition management, but also involves monitoring the judging process, engaging panel jurors and ensuring high journalistic standards are upheld throughout the event,” he said.
According to MPC, the ADI Media Awards comprises three categories, namely Print/News Portal Media, TV/Radio/Portal Media (Online Video), and Social Media (Short Video). All media organisations are encouraged to submit entries starting today, with the closing date on Aug 2.
Winners will be announced on Sept 23 at a special ceremony organised by MPC. Full details on terms and conditions, guidelines and submission forms are available at www.adi.gov.my, according to MPC.
It said ADI is a national initiative focusing on industry-based talent development through workplace training, skills certification and integrated academic pathways.
At the same event, MPC also introduced a new initiative, the MPI-MPC Professional Diploma in Journalism under the ADI framework, aimed at equipping media practitioners with new skills aligned with technological advancements in the industry without neglecting core journalism principles.
The platform offers two six-month programmes, comprising the Professional Diploma in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Journalism, focusing on the use of artificial intelligence in news writing, and the Professional Diploma in Cybersecurity Journalism, which provides training on cybersecurity to help journalists protect news sources and information.
MPI Chief Executive Officer Dr Ainol Amriz Ismail said the programme focuses on equipping journalists with skills to better understand and utilise AI, including information translation, data analysis, fake news detection and deepfake control.
He said emphasis is also given to ethics in AI usage and cybersecurity aspects, including issues of content misuse by irresponsible parties as well as data protection and organisational privacy.
“We are also collaborating with the London Examinations Board and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Space for international certification,” he said, adding that the programme is expected to begin in July with an initial target of 40 participants.
