PETALING JAYA, April 5 (Bernama) -- Selangor FC was saved the blushes by an injury-time equaliser by Chrigor Moraes to finish their 2025-2026 Malaysia Cup semifinal first leg match 1-1 against Kuching City FC at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium here tonight.
Selangor had actually found the net in the 21st minute, but defender Ahmad Zikri Mohd Khalili goal was disallowed after a review by the Video Assistant Referee. Moraes had an attempt at goal in the 35th minute but his effort was denied by a beautiful save by Kuching City FC defender Yuki Tanigawa.
The visitors had a stroke of good luck when they were awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute after Wanja Ronald Ngah was brought down, and he calmly beat Selangor goalkeeper Kalamullah Al Hafiz Mat Rowi to score.
In the second half, Kuching City FC did well in denying the home team any real chance to equalise, and were on course to for their first leg win before Moraes turned hero of the night and scored for Selangor in injury time.
Both teams will play the second leg in Kuching on April 18.
