IPOH, April 4 (Bernama) -- The public is invited to visit the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) booth at the Perak MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2026, currently taking place at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah, Meru Raya here, to gain a closer and first-hand understanding of the agency’s services.

Bernama Corporate Affairs assistant manager M. Suherman Anuar said the agency’s third participation in PMR aimed to enhance public awareness of its services.

“Each time PMR is organised, we make it a point to participate, and this platform essentially helps us to let people know of our functions and roles.

“In addition, our main objective is to engage directly with visitors and introduce Bernama platforms such as television, radio, news wires and editorial services,” he said when met at the agency’s booth here today.

Suherman said overall feedback on Bernama had been positive, particularly from representatives of ministries who were already familiar with the agency.

“However, among the local community, many are still unaware of Bernama. Our physical presence helps them better understand the functions and role of the national news agency,” he said.

On activities offered at the booth, Suherman said visitors could take part in question-and-answer sessions, digital quizzes, Kahoot games and download the Bernama application to receive mystery gifts.

Meanwhile, a visitor, Nur Aisyah Mohd Faiz, 17, said she was excited to try the interactive activities at the Bernama booth, which provided a clearer understanding of the agency’s functions and roles.

“I had heard the name before, but I did not really understand Bernama’s role clearly. Programmes like this allow me to learn more about it,” she said.

Another visitor, Muhammad Izzat Hakimi, 21, said the interactive approach introduced by Bernama should be continued to ensure more young people gain a better understanding of the media’s role.

“This method also provides Bernama with the opportunity to increase public awareness of its presence and services, while engaging more effectively with the younger generation,” he said.
