KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- The Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (FELCRA) is now seen as a strategic nation builder that remains relevant, particularly in driving the food security agenda and the well-being of rural communities, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“FELCRA is not merely about developing land; it builds lives. From the land cultivated come livelihoods, economic opportunities and a better future for rural communities,” he said in a Facebook post today.
He said in the current landscape, the agency’s role continues to expand, and he is confident FELCRA can emerge as a leader in the transformation of the nation’s agro-economy through its experience and continuously evolving approaches.
Extending his wishes in conjunction with FELCRA’s 60th anniversary, Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said the agency has undergone six decades of a journey filled with sacrifice and transformation felt by thousands of rural families.
He also hoped that FELCRA would continue to empower rural communities through inclusive and sustainable development models for the benefit of both present and future generations.
FELCRA was initially established as a statutory body in 1966 and in 1997, FELCRA Berhad was incorporated, evolving into a wholly-owned government corporate company.
