No WFH For Penang Civil Servants At This Stage, Says CM

GEORGE TOWN, April 1 (Bernama) -- The Penang state government has decided not to implement work from home (WFH) arrangements for civil servants for now, despite rising fuel costs.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the decision was made after considering that there is no urgent need to do so at this time.

“We feel it is not suitable for all types of work to be carried out from home and there is no pressing need,” he said at a press conference at Komtar here today.

On Friday, Chow said the state government was studying the implementation of WFH for civil servants following rising fuel costs due to the global energy crisis and would discuss the matter at the state executive council meeting today.

On March 26, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government was refining flexible working arrangements, including WFH, for civil servants to mitigate the impact of global oil supply disruptions.
