IPOH, March 31 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) seized 450 kilogrammes (kg) of cooking oil packets suspected to be kept illegally in a raid at a residential premises in Teluk Intan yesterday.
Perak KPDN director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail a Bangladeshi man, 36, who admitted to being the tenant was arrested in the raid at about 11 am, and the enforcement team seized 450 kg of 1kg cooking oil packets, a four wheel-drive vehicle, a multipurpose vehicle and related documents with a total value of RM55,125.
“The Bangladeshi man said that the cooking oil was meant to be resold to customers nearby, including those living in construction site dormitories.
“He failed to produce any permit, licence or approval from the Supplies Officer to own and deal with controlled items found at the premises,” he said in a statement today, adding that the man has been arrested and remanded for four days for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, he added.
