31/03/2026 02:54 PM

KOTA BHARU, March 31 (Bernama) -- All 595 schools across Kelantan have been instructed to suspend outdoor activities due to the ongoing hot and dry weather.

Kelantan Education Department (JPN) director Siti Norina Muhamad said a notification letter regarding the matter was distributed to all schools yesterday.

“The JPN is constantly monitoring current temperature trends through the Meteorological Department, and all schools have been directed to postpone outdoor activities as well as visits to high-risk areas.

“If the temperature exceeds 37 degrees Celsius, learning sessions will be conducted via home-based teaching and learning (PdPR), and if it reaches extreme levels, schools may be closed temporarily," she told reporters after announcing the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination results at the Kelantan JPN in Tunjong here today.

Siti Norina added that there is currently no need to implement PdPR sessions as the situation remains under control.

“However, we are constantly taking precautionary measures to ensure students are not exposed to the risk of heatstroke. So far, there have been no reports of students being affected," she said.
