KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- A 20-year-old female student of a public higher learning institution (IPTA) was killed after the car she was driving skidded and crashed at Kilometre 25.2 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway, heading towards Bentong, yesterday.
Gombak deputy police chief Supt Abang Kaderi Abang Wasli said the Gombak Traffic Police Station received a report on the fatal accident at 8.44 pm.
He said initial investigations found that the victim, who was driving a Perodua Axia, was believed to have lost control of the vehicle before crashing into a concrete road barrier on the right side of the lane.
“In the incident at about 7.20 pm, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from the Selayang Hospital due to severe injuries,” he said in a statement today.
Abang Kaderi said the body was then sent to the hospital for a post-mortem, and that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Police urge members of the public who witnessed the incident or have information to come forward and assist in the investigation,” he added.
