KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- The number of districts in Kedah under the Level 1 heatwave alert has dropped to seven as of 4 pm today, from nine earlier in the morning, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In its latest update, the department clarified that Pulau Langkawi and Kubang Pasu have been removed from the Level 1 alert list. Meanwhile, Marudi in Sarawak has been added to the alert status.
The seven districts in Kedah are Kuala Muda, Kota Setar, Baling, Sik, Padang Terap, Pendang and Pokok Sena, while all of Perlis remains under the same alert level.
MetMalaysia also confirmed that no areas had recorded Level 2 heatwave conditions as of this afternoon.
A Level 1 heatwave alert is issued for daily maximum temperatures of 35°C to 37°C, while Level 2 refers to temperatures above 37°C up to 40°C for at least three consecutive days.
