Kelantan Gov't To Organise Al-Istisqa` Prayers Over Drought

KOTA BHARU, March 27 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan state government will organise Al-Istisqa’ prayers soon to pray for rain due to drought in the state.

Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said besides prayers at state levels, the ulama councils have been urged to hold prayers in their respective areas.

"I would like to advise the public to take care of their health by reducing outside activities in the daytime to avoid the effects of the heat and not to leave their homes unless there is a pressing need,” he told reporters at the Kelantan PAS Aidilfitri event here today, as he expressed his concern over the rising risks of fires due to the current hot weather.

"Lately there has been several small fires reported in Kelantan believed to have been caused by prolonged hot weather and human negligence.

"The drought can cause fires to happen easily, especially when there are those who throw away cigarette butts indiscriminately or conduct open burning,” he added.
