Bursa Malaysia Stays In The Red At Mid-Afternoon
KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained in the red at mid-afternoon on continued selling activities in selected heavyweights led by banking and telecommunication counters.
At 3 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 1.12 points, or 0.06 per cent, to 1,715.56 from Wednesday’s close of 1,716.68, after opening 2.78 points higher at 1,719.46
Market breadth was negative, with losers surpassing gainers 573 to 389. A total of 509 counters were unchanged, 1,287 untraded and 77 suspended. Turnover stood at 1.91 billion units valued at RM1.69 billion.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM11.44, Public Bank fell seven sen to RM4.86, CIMB lost two sen to RM7.87 and Tenaga Nasional decreased four sen to RM14.38. IHH Healthcare added one sen to RM9.00.
On the most active list, Sunway Healthcare jumped 19 sen to RM2.31, Zetrix AI slipped one sen to 74 sen, Dialog rose 20 sen to RM2.29, Tanco inched up three sen to RM1.47 and AirAsia X lost seven sen to RM1.17.
Among the top gainers, Malaysian Pacific added 50 sen to RM29.40, Petronas Dagangan increased 36 sen to RM21.96, Petronas Chemicals rose 34 sen to RM5.80, Sunway Construction was up 25 sen to RM6.84 and Kuala Lumpur Kepong gained 22 sen to RM19.82.
Top losers included BLD Plantation, which slid 60 sen to RM14.60 and UMS lost 16 sen to RM1.81. Ideal Capital and Concrete Engineering decreased 14 sen to RM3.36 and RM1.85 respectively.
On the index board, the FBM Top 100 Index notched up 7.50 points to 12,343.43, the FBM Emas Index firmed by 0.77 of a point to 12,475.61, the FBM 70 Index gained 78.10 points to 17,041.87, the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 37.96 points to 12,232.45, while the FBM ACE Index declined 38.16 points to 4,332.14.
By sector, the Financial Services Index lost 72.31 points to 20,497.30, the Industrial Products and Services Index inched up 2.85 points to 182.97, the Energy Index increased 7.69 points to 793.05, and the Plantation Index added 38.76 points to 8,618.21.
