KOTA BHARU, March 25 (Bernama) -- A total of 48 petrol stations operating within a 25-kilometre radius of the national border in Kelantan have been identified as high-risk for subsidy leakage activities.

Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Kelantan Deputy Director Aswadi Jaafar said the ministry has increased the frequency of inspections at the identified stations to curb fuel misappropriation by irresponsible parties.

"The implementation of Ops Tiris 2026 also focuses on inspections and enforcement of KPDN regulations at public hotspots across the state.

"This operation involves full monitoring of traders’ compliance levels, ensuring sufficient supply of essential goods, as well as maintaining price stability for consumers," he said in a statement today.

He added that patrols also focus on monitoring vehicles suspected of attempting repeated refuelling using jerry cans or modified tanks.

"In addition, inspections are conducted on permit holders and wholesalers licensed by KPDN to ensure compliance with stipulated conditions.

"KPDN will not compromise on any form of subsidy leakage or abuse, particularly under the current circumstances that require strict control over fuel supply and pricing," he said.
