KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed pride after 19,533 children from the Community Development Department’s (KEMAS) kindergartens Tabika) marked the 27th night of Ramadan by confidently leading the tarawih prayers among their peers.
He said the programme, which involved pupils from 2,773 KEMAS kindergartens nationwide, reflects the effectiveness of the KEMAS Pre-Tahfiz Programme in nurturing a love for the Quran from an early age.
Describing the moment as heart-warming, Ahmad Zahid said the sight of young children leading prayers with confidence symbolises the success of early education rooted in strong religious values.
“This is among the outcomes of efforts through the KEMAS Pre-Tahfiz Programme in shaping a generation that is close to the Quran. Alhamdulillah, what we have worked on is beginning to show results,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, credited the achievement to the dedication of KEMAS teachers and the strong support of parents in guiding their children.
He also expressed appreciation to all parties involved in ensuring that KEMAS early childhood education goes beyond academics to emphasise character building and religious values.
He added that the initiative is expected to produce a generation of Quran-literate individuals who can serve as role models for society and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.
