Several Areas In Kuching Flooded, Two Evacuation Centres Opened

KUCHING, March 10 (Bernama) -- Several areas around the city have been hit by floods following continuous heavy rain since this morning.

The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee said that as of 3 pm, two temporary relief centres (PPS) have been opened in the Kuching area.

“The PPS at Dewan R-Piang, which houses residents from Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, currently accommodates 38 victims from seven families.

“Detailed information on another PPS opened at Dewan Stapok is being updated,” the statement said.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department has also been conducting patrols and monitoring in flood-prone areas such as Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, Taman Desa Wira and Kampung Tabuan Dayak.
