Express Bus Overturns In Skudai, 10 Passengers Injured

JOHOR BAHRU, March 8 (Bernama) -- An express bus skidded and overturned on the side of the road in an accident at Kampung Sepakat Baru, Batu 11, Skudai tonight, resulting in 10 passengers suffering injuries, with two of them being trapped.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, in a statement, said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.20 pm, and dispatched a team from the Skudai Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the scene at 8.29 pm, the team found that the accident involved a Causeway Link Express bus that skidded and overturned on the side of the road.

“A total of 10 victims were involved in the incident, with two passengers trapped inside being extricated by the firefighters using special tools,” it said, adding that a third victim who was trapped was rescued by members of the public earlier.

The centre said that while the bus driver and two other passengers sustained injuries, four others suffered only minor injuries.

All the victims were given initial treatment by personnel from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS), Ministry of Health (MOH) ambulance and the St John Ambulance, before being taken to the hospital.
