KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) -- Social activist and former politician Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of his autobiography “Call Lee Lam Thye: Recalling a Lifetime of Service” to Yayasan SALAM Malaysia.
In a statement today, the foundation’s trustee, Datuk Yong Soo Heong, said a ceremony would be held tomorrow at 11 am at Lee's office on the 10th floor of Menara EcoWorld, Jalan Hang Tuah, Bukit Bintang.
Yong said the book, which was published in 2022, charts Lee's path from becoming an assemblyman at 23 in the 1970s to his role in civic activism and nation-building.
“It serves as both a personal memoir and a civic reflection, reinforcing his reputation as a lifelong social activist.
“It offers firsthand insight into Malaysian civic activism and political life from the 1970s onward and highlights Lee’s values of service, unity and charity that are consistent with his lifelong advocacy,” he added.
Yayasan SALAM Malaysia is a non-governmental organisation that has been dedicated to promoting volunteerism in Malaysia for the past 30 years.
