NEW DELHI, March 8 (Bernama) -- Four ship vessels carrying about 247,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) have reached Bangladesh, bolstering the country’s energy supplies amid the ongoing US–Israel conflict with Iran.

The vessels reached Chattogram port from Ras Laffan port in Qatar, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported.

“The safe arrival of the vessels in Bangladesh before the escalation of the conflict has brought relief to the country’s energy and import supply chain,” the report said.

Bangladesh's Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood on Saturday said the country has sufficient petroleum stocks and asked people not to rush to buy petroleum products in panic amid fears that a prolonged war in the Middle East could fuel a global energy crisis.

Iran has not closed the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route for global oil and gas shipments, but has warned that vessels linked to the United States and Israel could be targeted.

Since the US and Israel began the war against Iran on February 28, a number of energy facilities have come under attack, and the Strait of Hormuz, on Iran's southern border, has seen much of tanker traffic vanish.
