ALOR SETAR, March 8 (Bernama) -- Solid waste management and public cleansing concessionaire E-Idaman Sdn Bhd (E-Idaman) will implement special operations in conjunction with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration to ensure cleanliness levels and solid waste management across the state are maintained throughout the festive season.

Its Operations Division head Munir Amani Dasheer said the operation will involve 267 units of machinery and 867 personnel, mobilised in an integrated manner to strengthen waste collection and cleaning operations in residential areas as well as public hotspots.

“A total of 133 compactor units (CU), 119 mini armroll units, seven open tipper units and eight backhoes will be used to support waste collection operations more efficiently and systematically. A total of 388 in-house workers and 479 contractor workers will be involved in this special operation.

“To ensure areas remain clean ahead of the festive celebration, operations will be carried out from 10 pm to 6 am on the eve of Aidilfitri, focusing on residential areas, centralised bins and locations expected to see an increase in waste generation,” he said in a statement today.

To address the expected rise in waste generation, particularly at centralised bin locations, E-Idaman has identified 238 centralised bin locations and will carry out additional collection, beyond the standard service level, to prevent waste from overflowing.

“Based on records, the total waste collected throughout Ramadan 2025 amounted to 38,814 tonnes, comprising household waste, bulky waste and public cleaning waste. During the first week of Aidilfitri 2025, 9,320 tonnes of waste were collected across Kedah.

“This shows a significant increase in waste generation during the festive season. Therefore, we advise the public to play their role in maintaining environmental cleanliness by managing waste properly and adhering to the scheduled collection times,” he said.
