Melaka Allocates Over RM14 Mln For Ramadan, Syawal Aid – Ab Rauf

MELAKA, March 6 (Bernama) -- The Melaka state government has allocated RM14.043 million in aid for Ramadan and Syawal to assist those in need in the state, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said the allocation includes RM11.9 million under the Bantuan Persediaan Ramadan programme for asnaf, the hardcore poor, the poor and converts.

“For Aidilfitri preparations, the state government has also channelled Bantuan Syawal amounting to RM1.8 million, benefiting 11,351 recipients,” he said in his speech at the Majlis Santunan Kasih Ramadan and Iftar Jamaie Mega here today.

The event, organised by the Melaka state government, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and about 3,000 guests at Dataran Pusat Islam, Masjid Al-Azim in Bukit Palah.

Ab Rauf said the state government also presented Sumbangan Mesra Pendidikan Tahfiz worth RM294,000 to 98 registered tahfiz centres.

He added that RM49,000 was also contributed to 500 gig industry operators and 90 orphans in the state.
