KOTA KINABALU, March 2 (Bernama) -- The Oil & Gas Services and Equipment Conference & Exhibition Sabah 2026 (OGSE Sabah 2026), to be held from June 4 to 6, is expected to attract more than 5,000 local and international visitors.

The Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET), said in a statement today that the programme, to be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), will bring together about 200 exhibitors covering various segments of the oil and gas industry value chain.

“It is jointly organised by MINDET, the Sabah Oil & Gas Services Council (SOGSC) and the Sabah Bumiputera Petroleum Contractors Association Sabah (PKPBS), with support from agencies such as SMJ Energy and other strategic industry partners,” the statement said.

According to the statement, among the main objectives of OGSE Sabah 2026 is to support policy alignment between the state government, petroleum operators and industry players in line with the implementation of the local content policy.

It will also promote Sabah as a sustainable, competitive and investor-friendly energy investment destination, particularly in the development of downstream industries and oil and gas support services.

In addition, OGSE Sabah 2026 will serve as an industry platform for discussions on the formulation of the Sabah OGSE Five-Year Roadmap (2026-2030), which will outline capacity and capability development, strategic collaboration and market expansion for Sabah OGSE companies.

OGSE Sabah 2026 will also emphasise human capital development through early exposure for the younger generation and students to potential career paths and entrepreneurial opportunities in the oil and gas industry.

At the same time, the initiative will focus on creating more quality, high-income job opportunities for Sabahans, while ensuring that the economic spillover from the industry translates into more sustainable, progressive and inclusive state economic growth.

“This will be implemented through career exhibitions, industry-sharing sessions and talent-matching programmes, as a measure to ensure a sustainable and competitive skilled workforce to support the sector’s growth,” the statement said.
