KOTA KINABALU, March 1 (Bernama) -- The number of flood evacuees in Sabah dropped to 557 people from 172 families as of 8 pm today, compared to 1,387 people from 442 families at 4 pm earlier.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat said in a statement that three temporary relief centres in Beaufort were closed after the flood situation improved significantly.
It added that only the Banir State Assembly Hall relief centre is still operating in Beaufort to shelter those affected, with no fatalities reported so far.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecasts rain in several interior areas of Sabah tonight.
