MOSCOW, Feb 26 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Leading United States (US) artificial intelligence developers plan to start creating their own energy supply network to power their data centres, White House Assistant Press Secretary Taylor Rogers said, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"Major Tech companies will join President [Donald] Trump at the White House next week to formally sign the Ratepayer Protection Pledge that he announced... Under this bold initiative, these massive companies will build, bring, or buy their own power supply for new AI data centres, ensuring that Americans’ electricity bills will not increase as demand grows," Rogers told the Fox News Digital news outlet.

These companies include Amazon, Google, Microsoft, xAI, Oracle, OpenAI, and Meta, the news portal reported.

The United Nations data suggests that a typical AI data centre uses as much electricity as 100,000 households, and those being built now will consume 20 times more power.

By 2030, these centres might need as much electricity as the whole of Japan uses.
