KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today spent time engaging with the public and traders at the Jalan Telawi Ramadan Bazaar in Bangsar through a ‘bubur lambuk’ distribution programme for the local community.

A total of 200 packs of bubur lambuk were distributed to visitors under the ‘Kami Care Bubur Lambuk @Lembah Pantai’ initiative, aimed at fostering Ramadan camaraderie in collaboration with personnel and presenters from Astro Audio.

Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, said the casual programme provided an ideal platform to experience first-hand the pulse of the community in the area, even on a working day.

“Today, we mingled with the public and distributed bubur lambuk to those visiting the bazaar. The atmosphere was very relaxed and I observed a strong turnout,” he told the media after the distribution session.

Meanwhile, commenting on the direction of national broadcasting, Fahmi stressed the importance of mainstream media remaining dynamic in engaging ‘Gen Z’ through relevant content delivery, without compromising journalistic ethics.

In this regard, he said the appointment of Ashwad Ismail, 41, as the new director-general of broadcasting was timely in injecting fresh energy into Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

He expressed confidence that the expertise brought by Ashwad would drive transformation in content and broadcasting formats to be more agile, while addressing the increasingly challenging digital media landscape.
