Selangor Sultan, Tengku Permaisuri Grace Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam

SHAH ALAM, Feb 12 (Bernama) – Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin graced the Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam event at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah here this evening.

Their Royal Highnesses' presence at the forum, titled ‘Kelahiran Insan Riayah,’ marked the 15th anniversary of the Darul Ehsan Islamic Foundation (YIDE).

The forum, organised by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), focused on the responsibilities of supporting orphans and the faith-based obligations to be carried out through coordinated efforts by the government, agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the public.

Broadcast live on TV1 by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) for one hour, it was attended by Selangor Islamic Affairs and Innovation Culture Committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, and Rural Development, Unity and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rizam Ismail, along with around 600 attendees.

Held at the Dewan Syarahan dan Muzakarah Islam, the forum featured JAKIM's Zakaria Othman as moderator, with panellists including Selangor Mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir and Pahang Deputy Mufti Datuk Badli Shah Alaudin.

At the event's conclusion, Sultan Sharafuddin, who is also the patron of YIDE, accepted mock cheques of corporate donations, including RM850,000 from Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), RM500,000 from Westports Holdings Bhd, RM333,000 from Affin Islamic Bank Bhd, and RM100,000 from Teraju Ekonomi Asnaf (TERAS).
