SEREMBAN, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Last year, the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), via the National Housing Department (JPN), approved RM10 million for maintenance projects at private strata housing within the Seremban City Council (MBS) area, including lift replacements.
State Local Government Development, Housing and Transport Committee chairman J Arul Kumar said that under the Development Allocation, RM1.64 million was used for painting, road resurfacing, and upgrading water tanks and reticulation systems across five flats and one apartment.
Additionally, RM8.34 million was disbursed through the Malaysia Housing Maintenance Fund for maintenance work and lift replacements at 13 flats.
“All maintenance projects were completed last October, while the lift replacements are expected to be completed by this October. This allocation has resolved many issues faced by the community,” he told reporters after visiting the Senawang 2 Flats today.
He said the upgrade of water tanks and reticulation systems across several blocks in the housing area, which cost RM497,297 and was completed last September, has benefited around 1,000 residents.
Arul also highlighted that seven local authorities in Negeri Sembilan received nearly RM43 million from KPKT last year to implement 162 projects, with MBS receiving the largest allocation of RM20 million for 41 projects.
The funding was used for drainage improvements, road resurfacing, upgrades to public markets and toilets, as well as painting low- and medium-cost flats, all to enhance residents’ comfort and overall living conditions.
