IPOH, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- The official song commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Perak chapter of the Federation of Scouts Malaysia (PPM) was performed for the first time at a ceremony at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Taiping today.

In a statement, the Scouts Association of Malaysia said the new song symbolises identity and pride for all scouts in Perak throughout the centennial celebrations.

The launch was officiated by Deputy Chief Commissioner of Scouts Malaysia Ahmad Sabri Saad and attended by Perak State Chief Commissioner Ahmad Azam Shah Abd Majid.

At the event, 266 scouts received awards, including 38 Chief Scout Excellence Awards (Yellow Cord) and 86 Green Cord awards. In addition, 69 recipients were awarded the King’s Scout Badge, while 73 received the Perak State Chief Commissioner’s Certificate of Commendation for their contributions and dedication.

As part of the centennial celebrations, 13 main programmes have been planned, including the Festival Rewang Moreh Ramadan, Perak Scout Agoonoree, Pangkor Scout Challenge and Traditional Dance Competition.

The celebrations will culminate in the 100 Years Perak Scout Festival in September, along with the National Aeroboree and a Gala Dinner, aimed at commemorating Perak’s scouting history, fostering unity, and involving participation from state, national and international scouts.
