KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Counterfeit currency, bitcoin machines, alcohol, and cigarettes were among 66,165 units of case exhibits valued at over RM1.8 million disposed of at the Brickfields District Police Headquarters today.

Brickfields District Police Chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook said that the disposal involved 180 investigation papers from the Criminal Investigation Division (BSJ) and nine from the Commercial Criminal Investigation Division.

These items were collected between 2023 and January 2026, following court destruction and disposal orders obtained under Section 407(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code (Act 593).

“The disposal involves an estimated seizure value of RM1,613,736 from BSJ and RM203,530 from BSJK, bringing the total estimated value of the disposal to RM1,817,266,” he said during a press conference at the IPD Brickfields Case Exhibit Disposal Ceremony No. 1 for the year 2026.

“A total of 378 units are BSJK exhibits, while the remaining 65,787 units involve BSJ cases, including portable printers, computer sets, gambling equipment, vice and prostitution-related items, contraband, and other general case items,” he added.

The event was also attended by Kuala Lumpur Senior Deputy Public Prosecutor Wirna Rifin @ Ariff and Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court Judge Izralizam Sanusi.

Hoo emphasised that the disposal process was a vital element of the criminal justice system because it not only ensures that exhibit storage facilities remain organised and secure but also prevents the risk of misuse and maintains public confidence in the professionalism of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
