IPOH, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) of Perak seized 91 cylinders filled with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and 102 empty LPG cylinders, worth a total of RM60,440, in an operation conducted at a residential premises in Hutan Melintang, Bagan Datuk, yesterday.
Its director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said they also detained two individuals for failing to produce any permit, licence or approval for possessing the controlled item found at the premises at about 5.30 pm.
"Upon inspection, we found several LPG cylinders kept in a store next to the premises. A 31-year-old man, admitting to being the owner of the premises, said the liquefied petroleum gas was meant for sale to customers in the area,” he said in a statement today.
He said that during the inspection, another individual was also detained while transferring the LPG cylinders from a lorry to the store.
"In all, 63 cylinders filled with LPG and 91 empty cylinders of various brands found on the lorry were seized on suspicion of supplying scheduled controlled items to individuals who did not have a valid licence or permit,” he said.
He added that the case is being investigated under Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974.
