Organised Crime Suspect Nabbed In Ops Jack Sparrow - Bukit Aman CID

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) today confirmed that a suspect wanted for involvement in organised crimes has been arrested in Ops Jack Sparrow by Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

In a statement, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M. Kumar said the suspect was arrested yesterday for further investigation, based on an arrest warrant issued by the Sepang Sessions Court, Selangor on Jan 14.

“The suspect is being investigated for being a member of an organised crime gang and is being investigated under Section 130V of the Penal Code which provides for a prison sentence of not less than five years and not more than 20 years.

“The arrest was made with the cooperation and assistance of local authorities in Bangkok, Thailand before the suspect was brought back to Malaysia,” he said.

Kumar said the suspect was also suspected of being involved in a case that occurred in Subang Jaya last month under Section 326 of the Penal Code and for possession of a deadly weapon in a riot which is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code.

For an offence under Section 326 of the Penal Code, the punishment provided is imprisonment for up to 20 years and may also be fined or whipped.

Meanwhile, for an offence under Section 148 of the Penal Code, the punishment provided is imprisonment for up to five years or a fine or both.

According to him, the suspect was charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code today at the Sepang Sessions Court.

Charges under Section 326 of the Penal Code and Section 148 of the Penal Code will be implemented in the near future, he said.

PDRM also expressed its appreciation to the Thai authorities for their close cooperation and stressed its continued commitment to uphold the rule of law to ensure national security and the well-being of the people are prioritised.

Media previously reported that three wanted criminals who are also the main suspects of Ops Jack Sparrow arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport from Mumbai, India before being brought to the Sepang District Police Headquarters for documentation and then charged at the Sepang Court.

On Sept 11, the police carried out an integrated operation in several states known as Ops Jack Sparrow on the organised crime gang which has 33 members, with an individual called "Captain Praba" identified as the group leader.
