Selangor Police Step Up Operations With Bukit Aman CID After Shooting Cases In Klang, Banting

SHAH ALAM, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- Selangor police are actively conducting operations with the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following several shooting incidents in Klang and Banting in recent times.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the cooperation between the Selangor CID and Bukit Aman enabled the police to leverage a wider intelligence network to track down suspects.

He said the operations had yielded important leads and intelligence, but further details could not be disclosed to the public as investigations were still ongoing.

“The operations have been and are still being carried out in relation to these cases, and they have produced results and investigative leads for the police… what I can say is that the public should have confidence in the police,” he said at a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters here today.

According to Shazeli, resolving cases did not necessarily depend on immediate arrests or charges, as there were other legal avenues that could be pursued based on available evidence.

Earlier, several shooting incidents in Klang had sparked public concern over safety issues and gang-related activities in the area.

In a separate development, Shazeli said police were completing the investigation paper (IP) involving a popular individual detained in connection with a drug case referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP).

He said his department had received instructions from the DPP to complete the IP and that the actor concerned had been released on police bail.

“As such, during that period, the police granted bail to the individual concerned pending the completion of the investigation paper under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

When asked about a case involving a childcare centre alleged to have confined an autistic child, Shazeli said investigations were still ongoing in cooperation with the Bukit Aman CID.

“As it involves several other premises as well, the process is still ongoing because there have been many reports, more than 20,” he said, adding that the childcare centre concerned was still in operation.
