BEIJING, Jan 27 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The following are the indices of major stock markets worldwide, reported Xinhua.

IN ASIA (Tuesday)

The Shanghai Composite Index opened at 4,125.22 points, down 7.39 points, or 0.18 per cent.

The Shenzhen Component Index opened at 14,283.78 points, down 32.86 points, or 0.23 per cent.

The Hang Seng Index opened at 26,863.15 points, up 97.63 points, or 0.36 per cent.

The S&P/ASX 200 index opened at 8,950.30 points, up 90.20 points, or 1.02 per cent.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average opened at 52,847.54 points, down 37.71 points, or 0.07 per cent.

The Straits Times Index opened at 4,898.23 points, up 37.30 points, or 0.77 per cent.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index opened at 4,932.89 points, down 16.70 points, or 0.34 per cent.

IN THE UNITED STATES (US) (Monday)

The S&P 500 Index closed at 6,950.23 points, up 34.62 points, or 0.50 per cent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 49,412.40 points, up 313.69 points, or 0.64 per cent.

The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 23,601.36 points, up 100.12 points, or 0.43 per cent.

IN EUROPE (Monday)

The DAX Index closed at 24,933.08 points, up 32.37 points, or 0.13 per cent.

The FTSE 100 Index closed at 10,148.85 points, up 5.41 points, or 0.05 per cent.

The Paris CAC 40 closed at 8,131.15 points, down 11.90 points, or 0.15 per cent.
