KUALA LUMPUR, 26 Jan (Bernama) -- Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) has formed a strategic partnership with Yayasan Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Yayasan ANGKASA) to directly benefit higher education students and communities, in line with Islamic finance principles and corporate social responsibility commitments.

The collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Presentation of Offer Letters and Excellent Education Financing Awards by Yayasan ANGKASA for the 2025/2026 session, officiated by ANGKASA president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah and Bank Muamalat’s Commercial Banking Director Datuk Mohamed Nazir Nor Mohamed recently.

Bank Muamalat said the partnership also enables the implementation of public funding programmes for Yayasan ANGKASA’s Education Fund, particularly to support students receiving educational financing from the foundation.

“Since 2000, Yayasan ANGKASA has distributed over RM32 million in financing to 1,700 students, of which more than RM11 million has been converted into scholarships,” it said.

The event also saw the launch of Bank Muamalat’s new Jariah Fund (JF) campaign, aimed at strengthening support for education, community welfare, and sustainable community development, alongside financial literacy sessions under the Cilik Celik Kewangan programme.

In addition, Bank Muamalat said the partnership also covers joint promotions and collaboration in corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, the organisation of seminars, workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions related to Islamic finance, corporate governance, and financial management.

“Both parties have also agreed to offer sponsorship and corporate packages to support community development and educational activities.

“To enhance graduate employability, Bank Muamalat will provide industrial training opportunities for students sponsored by Yayasan ANGKASA, particularly in the banking and Islamic finance sector,” it said.

Meanwhile, Bank Muamalat president and CEO Datuk Khairul Kamarudin said the partnership reflects the bank’s commitment to playing a more active role in empowering education and developing communities inclusively.

“With 12,045 cooperatives and over 7.2 million members under ANGKASA, this strategic collaboration aligns with Bank Muamalat’s aspiration to position Islamic finance as a catalyst for community well-being.

“Through initiatives such as the Education Fund, CSR programmes, and industrial training, we aim to support the creation of a knowledgeable, competitive generation ready to contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.

He added that the strategic partnership between Bank Muamalat and Yayasan ANGKASA is expected to deliver long-term positive impacts, not only for students and beneficiaries, but also for the development of the Islamic finance ecosystem and overall community well-being.

Regarding the launch of the new JF campaign, he said it demonstrates Bank Muamalat’s commitment to strengthening a welfare ecosystem grounded in Islamic values.

“The Jariah Fund was established as a platform to encourage participation from the public, institutions, and corporate partners in supporting long-term impactful initiatives in welfare and education. It reflects the value-sharing principles central to Bank Muamalat,” he said.
