Gold Tops US$5,000 Per Ounce First Time Ever

MOSCOW, Jan 26 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) - The price of gold exceeded $5,000 per troy ounce for the first time in history, according to trading data, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

As of 23:13 GMT Sunday, the price of February gold futures on the New York Comex exchange rose by approximately US$40 from the previous close, or 0.8 per cent, to US$5,025 per troy ounce.
