KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- The phase two salary increase under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), effective today, has given civil servants a boost, inspiring them to deliver even more dedicated and exemplary services.
Dr Shahremy Ikmal Shahbudin, 42, a lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia, expressed his gratitude for the seven per cent salary hike, describing it as a gesture of appreciation and recognition from the government towards civil servants.
“This second salary increase has lifted our spirits and motivated us as civil servants to continue serving with dedication, aiding the government in facing today’s challenges,” he told Bernama.
RTM programme producer Wan Nor Shazila Wan Zain, 42, welcomed the second-phase salary adjustment, saying it offers much-needed support for her, with four schoolgoing children and increasing daily commitments.
“This will at least help sustain the family’s financial stability while also boosting motivation and work productivity,” she said.
Policeman Muhamad Iskandar Mohd Sukor, 29, said the salary increase for security personnel would boost morale, inspiring them to serve the country with integrity.
“This initiative can help us get through the month financially while motivating us to perform better at work,” he said.
Muhammad Afzanizam Jamaluddin, 32, a Health Ministry staff member, said he was grateful for the government’s concern for the welfare of civil servants.
“It is hoped that the government will continue looking after civil servants’ welfare and review salaries from time to time to keep up with the cost of living,” he said.
Meanwhile, Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat said the salary adjustment would not only provide financial relief but also boost morale and motivate civil servants to continue delivering efficient, integrity-based and people-oriented services.
“CUEPACS applauds the government’s assertion that salary adjustments carry both trust and responsibility, which should translate into improved work performance. Civil servants should cultivate a high-performance work culture and uphold professionalism, efficiency, integrity and a proactive attitude in carrying out their duties,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Civil servants under SSPA will see their second-phase pay rise reflected in today’s (Jan 22) salary, which is the official salary date for the month, based on their Dec 31, 2025 pay, even though the new pay adjustment took effect on Jan 1, 2026.
The second-phase pay adjustment continues the 2024 SSPA increases, raising pay by 15 per cent for the Implementation Group and Management and Professional Group (P&P) and by seven per cent for the Top Management Group.
Under phase two, the P&P receive an additional seven per cent increase, while those in the top management receive a three per cent adjustment.
More than 950,000 civil service retirees will also benefit from phase two adjustment under the SSPA, which took effect on Jan 1.
Malaysian Government Pensioners’ Association secretary-general Maarof Kassim, 76, expressed his gratitude to the government for the initiative.
The Seremban City Council (MBS) retiree said the increase reflected the government’s appreciation for government retirees who had devoted themselves to serving the people in their respective fields.
“I have been retired for about 20 years, and this pension increase will assist me with daily expenses as I live alone in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
