GOF Detains 15 Myanmar Immigrants In Kota Bharu

KOTA BHARU,  Jan 19 (Bernama) --  The General Operations Force (GOF) arrested 15 illegal immigrants from Myanmar in a raid on a house in Jalan Pasir Mas Salor, Kampung Kota, here early today.

Southeast Brigade GOF Commander, SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain, said the arrests were made at 4 am by a team from the 7th Battalion through Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan.

He said that acting on information, the police conducted a raid on a house along Jalan Pasir Mas Salor and arrested 1the foreign nationals, comprising 13 men and two women aged between 19 and 37.

“All of them failed to produce valid travel documents,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Radzi said the foreigners were referred to the Criminal Investigation Division, Kota Bharu District Police Headquarters, for further action and the case was being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

He also called on the public to provide informationto the authorities regarding any smuggling activities that occur in their respective areas to ensure that the country is not invaded by elements of illegal activities.
