KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (Bernama) — The National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (Aswara) will be organising the Titih Pusaka Festival 2026, a large-scale arts and cultural event highlighting the uniqueness and diversity of Malaysia’s traditional arts heritage from Jan 23 to Jan 25.
In a statement today, Aswara said the festival, expected to attract 10,000 visitors, will be held at the Aswara Campus and Padang Merbok here, with the aim of elevating arts and culture as a high-value tourism product at both national and international levels.
It said the programme will include traditional arts and crafts exhibitions, demonstrations by arts figures and master artisans (Adiguru), workshops and masterclass sessions, the Mega Dikir Barat Competition, forums and academic discourses, as well as stage performances involving students, alumni and local professional performing arts groups.
“Various artistic disciplines will be highlighted, including dance, music, theatre, animation, writing, visual arts, literature and short films, showcasing the breadth of Malaysia’s arts landscape and the potential for integration between traditional and contemporary arts,” it added.
The festival will also serve as a platform to recognise arts practitioners through the presentation of the Titih Pusaka Festival Aswara 2026 Young Talent Award for Traditional Arts and the Titih Pusaka Festival Aswara 2026 Traditional Arts Influencer Award.
Aswara said the carnival will also function as a platform for research and knowledge transfer through direct interaction between students, academics, master artisans and local as well as international arts figures.
It said the festival has also been designed as a strategic platform to strengthen the continuity of traditional arts and cultural knowledge, while broadening public understanding of the nation’s arts, culture and heritage in a holistic manner.
