Three Killed In Olak Lempit Factory Fire

SHAH ALAM, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- At least three people were killed in a fire involving four factories, including an oil processing facility, at the Olak Lempit Industrial Area in Banting near here yesterday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the victims’ bodies were found charred during an inspection at the scene.

“The fire involved four adjacent premises, including an oil processing factory. The bodies were discovered during overhaul operations at the oil processing factory, which was completely destroyed,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Mukhlis said his department was alerted about the incident at about 11.03 pm last night and immediately mobilised 69 personnel and officers. The fire was successfully brought under control at about 1.15 am today.

He said the Fire and Rescue Stations (BBP) involved in the operation were Banting, KLIA, Dengkil, Cyberjaya, Bangi, Petaling Jaya, Precinct 7 Putrajaya, as well as Nilai in Negeri Sembilan, in addition to volunteer fire brigades from Sri Serdang, Seri Kembangan and Rantau Panjang, Klang.
