KUALA PILAH, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has called for continued efforts to strengthen measures addressing the cost of living, to ensure that no one in the state is left behind, particularly those from the low- and middle-income groups.
His Royal Highness said the progress achieved in reducing extreme poverty must be sustained through targeted assistance, effective price controls, strengthened food security and the systematic expansion of income-generating opportunities.
“I call upon the people to practise prudent spending, enhance their knowledge and skills, and support state government initiatives.
“At the same time, as a key thrust to improve the quality of life, the government must intensify the provision of healthcare facilities and enhance the quality of health services,” Tuanku Muhriz said at the investiture ceremony held in conjunction with his 78th birthday at Istana Besar Seri Menanti, here, today.
Also present was the Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud.
The Ruler also expressed hope that the proposed construction of the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) Hospital in Nilai would be given due consideration, as it has the potential to further strengthen the state’s healthcare services, in addition to supporting the upgrading and expansion of Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban, to enhance the capacity and quality of health sector services.
On education, His Royal Highness said the state’s educational performance has shown an encouraging upward trend, reflecting the continuous commitment of all parties, and should therefore be further strengthened, alongside efforts to nurture strong character and moral values.
“I am deeply concerned about the increasingly worrying social problems affecting the younger generation today, including drug abuse, gang activity and various negative behaviours which could jeopardise their future.
Tuanku Muhriz said education remains the most important foundation in shaping the character and identity of children, and expressed support for the continuous efforts of the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council (MAINS), in implementing the Aulad Sejahtera Module at the preschool level over the past two years, which emphasises the inculcation of noble values in daily life.
His Royal Highness also said that, at the secondary education level, students should be encouraged to actively participate in school associations and clubs, as a platform for building identity, character and leadership skills.
The Ruler also emphasised that participation in uniformed bodies, as well as sports-, welfare- and community-based clubs, not only helps instil discipline and a sense of social responsibility, but also reinforces the values of care, cooperation and a culture of volunteerism, which are essential in nurturing a moral, principled and well-balanced generation.
Meanwhile, in his royal address, Tuanku Muhriz once again stressed the importance of unity, which reflects the willingness of the people to understand, respect and cooperate with one another, despite differences in race, religion and background.
“I am confident that a comprehensive and continuous education approach, grounded in the implementation of the Aulad Sejahtera Module as the foundation for values formation, will produce a future generation imbued with a strong sense of unity.
Tuanku Muhriz also emphasised that the call applies to all levels of society, whether in rural or urban areas, and across all races and religions, stressing that collective efforts are needed to educate and guide the younger generation as future leaders, to ensure a more prosperous future for the state and the nation.
