KANGAR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- A total of RM6,957,300 has been allocated for the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP) in Perlis this year, benefiting 46,382 students in 104 schools statewide.
Perlis Education Director Rose Aza Che Arifin said that of the total allocation, RM3,702,450 is earmarked for 24,683 pupils in 74 primary schools, while RM3,254,850 will benefit 21,699 students in 30 secondary schools in the state.
He said parents would receive RM150 for each school-going child, stressing that schools are not allowed to make any deductions for other payments.
“I hope parents will fully utilise this assistance for their children’s schooling needs,” he told reporters after the Perlis state-level BAP 2026 mock cheque handing over ceremony by Indera Kayangan Assemblyman Gan Ay Ling at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Khoon Aik here today.
Rose Aza added that the distribution of the aid is expected to be completed by this week, although under the standard operating procedure (SOP), the process must be completed within 30 days from the start of the 2026 school session.
