Perak Agrees To Adopt Act 672, Requires Comprehensive Study - State Exco

TAPAH, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- The Perak state government agreed to adopt the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act 2007 (Act 672), but a comprehensive study is still needed to determine the appropriate method and enforcement before it is fully implemented.

State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching said they would ask the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) to fine tune the matter in an engagement session to be held imminently.

“In principle, Perak agrees even though we are not a state that enforced Act 672 previously.  This is because we need to move towards stricter enforcement to curb longstanding issues such as irresponsible littering and public cleanliness problems,” she said during a media conference after attending a state event near here today.

She also expressed hope that a consensus between the KPKT and state government could be reached to ensure the smooth implementation of the Act.

“States that have used Act 672 won’t have any problems as the framework to implement the Act exists. For Perak who doesn’t have this Act, we do hope for cooperation from KPKT to ensure it runs smoothly,” she added.
