PHNOM PENH, Jan 12 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on Monday donated 70 life-saving maternal and newborn health kits to Cambodia's Ministry of Health to help strengthen the health system in border communities, reported Xinhua.

"These critical supplies ensure that women and newborns can access life-saving interventions, even during difficult times," said a UNFPA press release.

The health kits included a range of medical equipment and medicines designed for emergency obstetric and newborn care, the press release said, adding that they were clean delivery kits, clinical delivery assistance kits, emergency obstetric care kits and specialised kits.

"The Ministry of Health is committed to ensuring that every citizen, especially those affected by conflict, has equitable access to quality healthcare services," said Cambodian Minister of Health Chheang Ra.

Sandra Bernklau, UNFPA representative to Cambodia, said these health kits ensure that all mothers and newborn babies are supported during emergencies.
