Former Bernama Journalist Sabaruddin Ahmad Sabri Dies

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Former Bernama journalist Sabaruddin Ahmad Sabri, 60, died at Sungai Buloh Hospital from a lung infection early this morning.

Suzrina Shamsuddin, 55, said her husband passed away at 5.28 am.

His remains are expected to be taken to Masjid Jamek FRIM for the funeral rites after Zuhur prayers, and will be laid to rest at Bukit Lagong Muslim Cemetery in Taman Ehsan, Kepong, Selangor.

Sabaruddin leaves behind his wife and five children.

Sabaruddin began his career at Bernama’s Economic Desk in 1985, before joining Utusan Malaysia.

He later worked in the corporate sector, including at construction firm Bridgecon Holdings Bhd, before joining Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and gained recognition as the host of Selamat Pagi Malaysia.

He was also active regionally, helping set up the Malaysia-Indonesia Journalists Association (ISWAMI) to foster ties and friendships between media professionals in both countries.

Also active in sports, especially hockey, Sabaruddin helped form Bernama’s team in the late 1980s, which regularly competed in media and government tournaments.

He spent the final phase of his career in the private sector and retired last year from Alam Flora Sdn Bhd.
