New Year's Eve Ops: 1,466 Summonses Issued, 15 Arrested In Selangor, N.Sembilan

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- Police issued 1,466 traffic summonses and arrested 15 people under the Ops Ambang 2026 Operations in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, which began last night and continued until early this morning.

In SELANGOR, police issued 1,206 traffic summonses, arrested seven individuals and seized 93 vehicles in operations carried out around the state.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the Ampang Jaya district recorded the highest number of summonses at 199, followed by Shah Alam (161), Petaling Jaya (156), Klang Utara (124), Klang Selatan (80) and Sungai Buloh (74).

He said the seven individuals arrested committed offences under the Road Transport Act 1987, including reckless and dangerous driving or riding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and offences related to vehicle registration numbers.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department issued 260 summonses following inspections of 560 vehicles in an integrated New Year’s Eve operation from 9 pm to 7 am today.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the offences detected included not having a driving licence, carrying expired licences, underage riders and illegal exhaust system modifications.

“Police also seized 10 vehicles and arrested eight males aged between 14 and 23 under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, in JOHOR, 9,356 summonses were issued under Ops Lancar from Dec 23 until New Year’s Eve.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said police also seized 130 vehicles for various traffic offences during the period, involving 126 motorcycles, two cars, one van and one lorry.
