MELAKA, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- Bersatu’s Srikandi chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said she is ready to resign from her Perikatan Nasional (PN) posts if it is a collective decision.
The Melaka Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, however, said claims that the appointments of state PN chairmen and other positions were automatically nullified following Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation as PN chairman yesterday were inaccurate.
Mas Ermieyati, who is also the Masjid Tanah MP, explained that appointments at both the central and state levels were made based on a collective decision by the PN Supreme Council.
“I take note of the calls from certain quarters urging me to resign as Melaka PN chairman and PN women’s chief following Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s resignation as PN chairman.
“I wish to stress that my decision not to resign is not driven by any personal gain, let alone to retain position or power. Instead, it is based on considerations of responsibility, organisational stability and the interests of the PN struggle at the state level,” she said in a statement on Facebook today.
Yesterday, Muhyiddin announced his resignation as PN chairman, effective Jan 1, 2026.
This was followed by a series of resignation announcements by other PN leaders, namely Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as PN secretary-general and Selangor PN chairman; Bukit Kepong assemblyman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal as Johor PN chairman; Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as Perak PN chairman and Labu assemblyman Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker as Negeri Sembilan PN chairman.
