Two Arrested In Relation To Viral Video Of Individual Wearing Hijab Drinking Beer

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- Police have arrested a man and a woman to facilitate investigations into a viral video depicting an individual wearing a hijab drinking beer.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) diretor Datuk M Kumar said the man, 22, and woman, 24, were arrested at 4.30 pm in the Subang Jaya area near here, and that preliminary investigations showed that the individual in question was a man.

“The police confirm recieving a police report about the video and the Bukit Aman CID Classified Crimes Investigation Unit is conducting investigations under Section 298A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said in a statement today.

He also stressed that the police would take stern and uncompromising action agaisnt any individual deliberately causing disharmony using religious insensitivities.
