Strong Earthquake Hits Papua New Guinea Region

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- A strong 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Papua New Guinea region at 6.31 pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement, said the earthquake occurred 43 km north of Goroka, with a depth of 10 km.

However, it said there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
