GEORGE TOWN, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow stated that the formation of the new cabinet is seen as a strategic move by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to ensure administrative goals are achieved by the end of the government's term.
Chow expressed hope that the new cabinet line-up would successfully deliver policies, manage the MADANI economy, and ensure that the people experience a positive impact from development and various forms of welfare assistance.
He emphasised that focusing on the "bread and butter" economy is crucial at this time, as managing the livelihood and welfare of the people effectively brings the most significant impact to their lives.
"With these goals in mind, I sincerely hope the Cabinet can ensure their respective ministerial agendas are implemented effectively. Overall, this should lead Malaysia toward a more stable environment, inject new spirit into national development, strengthen unity, and protect the welfare of the people," he told reporters here today.
He was met after the signing ceremony of an exclusive franchise agreement between Entopia and the DEMED Group from Turkiye.
Commenting on the appointment of Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin as the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), Chow said that as an industrial state, Penang has extensive dealings with MITI and hoped Sim will play a significant role, not only at the national level but also pay specific attention to investment and trade issues, within the state.
Meanwhile, Chow described the appointment of Steven Sim Chee Keong as the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives as timely and aligned with the country's current needs.
"Steven Sim’s transition from leading the Ministry of Human Resources to a ministry focused on enterprise and entrepreneur development is very meaningful, given that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a vital role in stimulating national economic growth.
"I am confident that the persistence and performance he demonstrated while heading the Ministry of Human Resources will continue in this new ministry to strengthen the entrepreneurship sector and support the national development agenda," he said.
