PUTRAJAYA, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- Former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, will continue to support the MADANI agenda and ongoing reform policies for the benefit of the nation and its people.

She thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for entrusting her with the responsibility of serving as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) in the MADANI Government.

“I believe every decision by the Prime Minister was made with careful consideration, prioritising national interest and ensuring the MADANI Government remains stable, effective and focused on its reform agenda. I wish all members of the newly appointed Cabinet every success,” she said in a statement today.

Dr Zaliha also thanked the staff of the Federal Territories Department and its agencies for their commitment and cooperation during her tenure.

She noted that over two years, several persistent issues were tackled, including breaking up bazaar cartels that had exploited small traders.

She also highlighted the success of the MADANI Government’s Usaha Jaya Insan (PUJI) Programme in eradicating hardcore poverty, proving that a targeted, data-driven approach can deliver tangible results.

Over in the Federal Territory of Labuan, she highlighted that economic empowerment is being driven by tourism and connectivity efforts, notably the resumed express ferry service to Kota Kinabalu and the ongoing feasibility study for a Labuan-Menumbok bridge.

Dr Zaliha also congratulated Hannah Yeoh on her appointment as the new Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) and hopes she will continue the Federal Territories development agenda for the well-being of the people.

In addition to Dr Zaliha, Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, who was previously appointed as a Senator to helm the position of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), was also dropped from the new Cabinet line-up announced by Anwar today.
