PADANG BESAR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) is currently listing states affected by flooding, detailing the extent of infrastructure damage and prioritising recovery of critical facilities.
Deputy Minister Akal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said affected states have been asked to submit full reports on costs and damaged infrastructure to enable a comprehensive assessment before further action is taken.
“Priorities will be based on the level of destruction and urgent community needs. Our immediate focus is on emergency works that directly affect the lives of residents, particularly critical infrastructure such as bridges and drainage systems,” he told reporters after launching the Cahaya Prihatin: Electric for Community programme at Kampung Utara today.
On the situation in Perlis, Akal Nasrullah said PETRA, through the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS), has identified several damages, including the collapse of three bridges and damage to a sluice and related facilities.
“Initial estimates of damage costs in Perlis range between RM6 million and RM8 million. InsyaAllah, emergency works will begin as early as next month through Perlis JPS,” he added.
